Melissa Sue Freeland, age 36, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Elk Mound, WI died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas.

Melissa was born Feb. 17, 1970 in Menomonie, WI to Bruce and Betty Ann (Evenson) Freeland. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyceville and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie. Melissa graduated from Elk Mound High School in 1988 and graduated from U.W. La Crosse in 1992. She then attended graduate school at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.

Melissa worked for the Las Vegas Thunder Hockey Team, the Las Vegas Stars Triple A Baseball Team and the Milwaukee Bucks. She later entered pharmaceutical sales.

Melissa loved children and was actively involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. She was very fond of animals especially her cats and was an avid Packer fan. She was also excited about her upcoming wedding to Martin Tomlin who has made her very happy. Melissa was a loving person who made friends everywhere she went. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Morris R. Evenson, a sister Kathleen Marie Freeland, and an uncle Ronald Freeland.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Dave Whelan officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

The family suggests memorials to Arbor Place Recovery Center, 320 21st St. NE, Menomonie.
