Living in Menomonie on Saturday, February 4th.

He was born on June 27, 1929 and was the second oldest of five children born to Ernest and Ada Westphal. Harlow grew up in Bloomer where he met
and married his one true love Esther. They were married in Des Moines, Iowa on
February 10, 1947. They had three boys and two girls. Harlow was a hard worker and started work at Armours at the tender age of 13. He joined the Air Force at 17, and became a jet mechanic. He served in Roswell, New Mexico as crew chief during the UFO incident.
After his military service, Harlow worked for the city of Eau Claire, until retirement.

Harlow loved to hunt, garden, and fish, and is remembered by all who knew him for his
love of sticky buns, sweet rolls, and Esther's pies. He loved playing cards with his family
and had one of the best laughs and a contagious twinkle in his eyes. His generosity and
tender heart communicated his deep love and commitment to his family. Harlow is
survived by sons and daughters, Larry and Tish Westphal of Eau Claire, Alan and Delia
Westphal of Menomonie, Don and Jan Westphal of Eleva, Ann and Dan Steinbrecher of
Menomonie, Jane and Gregg Kado of Spring Valley, as well as ten grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren. Sister Della Rudolf of Stratford and brother Dennis Westphal of Elk
Mound.

Harlow was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years: Esther Irene Westphal, as well as his brother Raymond and sister Norma Johnson.

Although Harlow will be greatly missed by those left behind, he is exactly where he wants
to be, back with Esther, and face to face with his Savior. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Pastor Tom Herro officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-noon until the time of the service.
