Patriotic Emblem

Joseph "Joe" J. Cirkl, age 87, of Menomonie, WI passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at Dunn County Health Care Center.

He was born December 19, 1924 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Joseph F. and Marie (Dolezal) Cirkl. He was raised in St. Paul and attended John Marshall High School there. Following graduation Joe served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II from 1944 to 1947.

Joe married Mary Ann Zak on May 3, 1947 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Menomonie. They made their home in Menomonie where Joe owned Cirkl Sheet Metal for many years.

Joe was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, serving as lector, usher and money counter. He also sang in the choir and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Joe was active in the community and would help whenever and wherever he was asked. He was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Catholic School, Arbor House, Stepping Stones and at the Newman Center. He loved working with his hands and was currently making squirrel proof bird feeders.

Joe is survived by:
His daughter, Carol (Marty) Bastress of Fond du Lac
Two grandsons, Jessie and Codie Bastress of Fond du Lac
A sister Marie Cirkl of St. Paul, MN
A niece, Cynthia Cirkl of St. Paul, MN
His dear friends, Bill and Maribeth Hartung of Menomonie
He is also survived by other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann, a daughter Nancy and son Joey Paul.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Menomonie, with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard. There will be visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Rosary by Knights of Columbus Council 2055 at 6:00 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
