Lavone C. Kuester, age 84, of Menomonie, WI passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at American Lutheran Home in Menomonie.

The former Lavone C. Johnson was born on October 13, 1927 in the Town of Sherman, Dunn County, WI to Raymond and Mabel (Robelia) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie where she later married Lyle Kuester on August 23, 1946.

Lavone enjoyed many things throughout her life. One of her favorite hobbies was raising Dachshund puppies. She was a 4-H leader for many years. She loved farming, upholstering furniture and most of all, playing cards. She was a member of the same card club for over 43 years. Lavone also enjoyed her evening car rides with Lyle. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Lavone is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lyle; her children, Kaye (John) Olson, Larry (Vickie) Kuester and Duane (Susan) Kuester; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister Shirley Reinhardt. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mabel, two grandsons, Mark Stevens and Marine SGT. Andy Stevens, her brother Orville and his wife Jean Johnson and brother-in-law Robert Reinhardt.

Lavone's family would like to thank the staff at American Lutheran Home for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Geoff Scott officiating. There will be visitation from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co., WI, in the spring.
